Play tips for this YuGiOh Card

• This card is great in a control deck. Run cards like Don Zaloog or Masked Sorcerer alongside Flip-Effect monsters like Dekoichi the Battlechanted Locomotive, Ryko, Lightsworn Hunter or Gravekeeper's Spy or Gravekeeper's Guard. If your opponent doesn't attack you can proceed to use your Flip effect monsters or just flip monsters to retain their attack and dominate the field. Tributing after using them is also a good tactic, especially when using monsters like Horus the Black Flame Dragon LV6 or Obelisk the Tormentor who are unaffected by Black Garden.
  • If your opponent attacks, each attack is risky, because monsters with halved attack usually only net battle damage for their owner and if they run into something like Don Zaloog or Masked Sorcerer you gain further card advantage out of it. And more importantly your monster was flipped up by the attack and will retain its original attack, allowing for further pressure.

• This card works well in a Counter Fairy deck using Bountiful Artemis. The attack halving makes sure Artemis 1600 ATK and 1700 DEF aren't a liability, but 1600 ATK also means you can trade two Rose Tokens and Black Garden to revive Bountiful Artemis from your Graveyard. That makes it rather easy to get two of them on the field, basically turning every Counter Trap into an improved Pot of Greed. In return Artemis and all the Counter Traps help to protect Black Garden and keep it on the field. Pollinosis is very effective, since you only feed a token to it instead of a real monster and Artemis replaces the card you used. In essence you can use Pollinosis to emulate the additional copies of other Counter Traps that can negate summons that the Counter Fairy deck lost to the ban-list like the limited Solemn Judgment or the semi-limited Divine Warning.

• This card is great with a stall deck, since you don't attack much and if your opponent Summons a monster, you get a Token to defend yourself.

• Because the Token's ATK is low, Stumbling is a good option.

• A card that combos very well with this card is The World Tree, allowing you to do a variety of effects every time one of your own Plants or one of the tokens get destroyed.

• Plan on using cards that have ATK that is in multiples of 800, such as Gigaplant, when using this card, so that you'll be able to Summon it more easily.

• Combine this card's effect with Adhesion Trap Hole to vastly reduce the opponent's monster's ATK upon its Summoning, letting you easily destroy it with your Token.

• This card's effect does not trigger upon Flip Summoning, so you can Set a powerful monster and it won't be weakened or Summon a Token when it is flipped face-up. This is a good strategy to use if either you or your opponent are using this card.
  • If your opponent does use this strategy, you can use Black Rose Dragon to switch his monster to face-up Attack Position with 0 ATK to destroy it easily.

• Use Fragrance Storm to destroy an opponent's Rose Token and draw cards.

• When your opponent's field is filled with Tokens, you can use Just Desserts to inflict 2500 damage.

• Use Seed Cannon to deal another 2500 damage. Summon plants of your own to speed up counter production.

• Use Pollinosis to protect Black Garden. Pollinosis will be easy to activate, since you will usually have a Rose Token to Tribute.

• If your opponent only has Rose Tokens on the field, you can send Black Garden to the Graveyard to destroy all the Tokens, and attack directly with the Summoned monster.

• Seed of Flame is a good monster to use with this card. When you Normal Summon or Special Summon it, your opponent will get a Rose Token, and Black Garden will halve Seed of Flame's ATK to 800, allowing Seed of Flame to count as another Rose Token. You can then use Black Garden to Special Summon a monster with an ATK divisible by 800 that much faster.

• You can easily give yourself a Rose Token by Summoning Lava Golem or Grinder Golem.

• This card works well with Seed Cannon.

• You can use this card and Miracle Flipper to constantly generate Rose Tokens. If you have an original or effect version of "Obelisk the Tormentor" in the Graveyard, you can use this combo until you get 5 tokens, though this would be difficult to pull off.

• Combos well with Horus the Black Flame Dragon LV6.

• This card combos well with a Normal Monster deck using Non-Spellcasting Area.

• Use Token Thanksgiving or Token Feastevil with this card once the field is congested with Rose Tokens. These cards will also ad counters toThe World Tree if one is on the field.

• Use this card in a Cyberdark deck because all Cyberdark monsters have 800 ATK,which is equal to the ATK of 1 token given by this card.

• Chain Black Garden, Scapegoat, and Token Feastevil for an devastating combination

• Having an Ivy Shackles activated when you destroy Black Garden, you can destroy your opponent's face-up monsters, regardless of their natural types, and Special Summon a monster.

• This card can be used with Kaiser Colosseum to ensure the opponent will gain a monster whenever you do and prevent them from summoning any non-token monsters.

• This card can provide tribute fodder for Obelisk the Tormentor and he is unaffected by "Black Garden"'s effect.

• Summon Cactus Bouncerand then activate this card. Your opponent will be in deep trouble - if they summon a monster, it will have halved ATK and Cactus Bouncer's lock effect will activate.

• When building a plant deck with this card in it, be sure to include Cactus Fighter, as each time it destroys an opponent's monster by battle while Black Garden is out, it will summon a Needle Token to their side of the field, which in turn summons a Rose Token to your side of the field.

• This card can pull of a deadly combo with the Deck Devastation Virus card. If you already have Black Garden out at the time, any monster with an attack point amount of 3000 and lower will have 1500 or lower attack points now. If you activate your virus now, assuming you had a DARK monster out beforehand so it still has 2000 ATK, this can destroy several different monsters very easily including things like Dark Magician, Cyber Dragon etc. This will also destroy almost every type of tuner in the game since they are known to have low attack points. The combo is very situational but if you pull it off it can have terrifying results for your opponent.

• Use Summoning Curse with this card to eliminate your opponent's hand. This can be particularly good when used with cards like Junk Synchron, causing your opponent to remove 3 cards in their hand from play while you get out a big synchro monster (this works best if you can discard/play all or most of your hand first). It may even be possible to remove the opponents entire hand from play before his/her first turn!
  • Add a Call of the Haunted, Limit Reverse, etc. so you can make your opponent remove from play a card in their hand immediately after drawing.

• Play the trap card Token Stampede and get Rose Tokens with ATK points of 1800 and also not destroyed in battle. You can also use The World Tree and Fragrance Storm and manipulate the field by destroying Rose Tokens on the opponent's field and gaining advantage through the Flower Counters

• Use this card with two Phoenixian Cluster Amaryllis that have their attacks halved with Black Garden. Use Black Garden's second effect to destroy the two Phoenixians to inflict 1600 damage to bring back one of them, to defend and inflict more damage.
