Card text

While this card is face-up on your side of the field, once per turn you can look at the top card of your Deck. If the card is a Normal Spell Card, send it to the Graveyard and you can activate the Normal Spell Card during the Main Phase of your next turn. If the card is not a Normal Spell Card, place it on the bottom of your Deck.

Rulings for Destiny Hero - Diamond DudeYu-gi-oh! Card

"Destiny Hero - Diamond Dude" doesn't actually activate the Normal Spell card itself. Instead, he just activates its effect. So the Spell Card remains in the Graveyard.

Since you are only activating the Normal Spell Card's effect, and not the Normal Spell Card itself, you do not pay costs and you do not have to meet any activation requirements. For example, you would not pay 1000 Life Points for "Confiscation", or discard 1 card for "Monster Reincarnation", or need a "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" on the field to activate the effect of "Burst Stream of Destruction".

Since the Spell Card itself is not activated (only its effect is), your opponent cannot chain "Magic Jammer", "Dark Deal", "Barrel Behind the Door" or any other card that has to be chained to the activation of a Spell Card.

When you resolve "Destiny Hero - Diamond Dude's" effect you (1) reveal the top card of your Deck, then (2A) send it to your Graveyard if it is a Normal Spell Card or (2B) return it to the bottom of your Deck if it's not. Activating that Spell Card's effect during your next turn is not activating "Destiny Hero - Diamond Dude's" effect at that time. Even if "Destiny Hero - Diamond Dude" is not on the field during your next turn's Main Phases, you can still activate the effect of that Normal Spell Card.

"Divine Wrath" can be chained to "Destiny Hero - Diamond Dude's" Ignition Effect when it is activated. You cannot chain "Divine Wrath" to the activation of the Normal Spell Card's effect during the next Main Phase (because "Destiny Hero - Diamond Dude's" effect is not activating at that time.)

You can choose to activate the effect of the Normal Spell Card during your Main Phase 1 or Main Phase 2.

You can choose not to activate the effect of the Normal Spell Card during your next turn if you do not want to.

The Normal Spell Card's effect activates in the Graveyard. So its effect will not be negated by "Spell Canceller".

If the Normal Spell Card is no longer in your Graveyard during your next turn, you cannot activate its effect.

If the effect of the Normal Spell Card targets, you cannot activate the effect unless there is an eligible target on the field.

If "Swords of Revealing Light" is sent to the Graveyard by this effect you can activate it, but only its effect that flips monsters face-up will apply. It will not stop the opponent's monsters from attacking because it is not on the field.

You cannot activate the effect of "Curse of Fiend", because it can only be activated during the Standby Phase.

If you have activated the effect of "Destiny Hero - Diamond Dude" and he is flipped face-down, then face-up again in the same turn, you can activate his effect again.

Play tips for this YuGiOh Card

  • This card can be searched via Sangan, Mystic Tomato, Reinforcement of the Army, Field-Commander Rahz, Freed the Matchless General, Elemental Hero Stratos, Soul Rope, Destiny Signal, and Dark General Freed.
  • Since costs and activation requirements are not paid, or do not have to be met, using cards such as Destiny Draw or Magical Stone Excavation or The Beginning of the End will get you free cards, and cards such as Lightning Vortex or Tribute to the Doomed that will destroy the opponent's monsters without needing to discard a card. Primal Seed also works, even without either of Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of the Beginning or Chaos Emperor Dragon - Envoy of the End in your Deck.
  • If you run a Destiny Hero Deck, you may use Veil of Darkness to thin your Deck till a Normal Spell is drawn. Then, just use Card Trader to get back Dead Draw Spells back to your Deck, as well as getting to draw this monster and shuffling your Deck in order to get a Normal Spell at the top of your Deck.
  • Also, you can activate the effects of most monster-specific and cost-effective cards:
  • Destiny Hero - Diamond Dude works well with Plaguespreader Zombie and Raiza the Storm Monarch.
  • Use with Pot of Benevolence to keep recycling your Normal Spell Cards. If Pot of Benevolence is sent to the graveyard by "Destiny Hero - Diamond Dude", it will not be removed from play as it is already in the graveyard. This also means you can even recycle Pot of Benevolence with its own effect.
  • Big Eye can help you get the cards you want on top of your deck.
  • Shooting Star Bow - Ceal and Heart of Clear Water can be used to keep this card on the field and having a 400 direct damage each turn.
  • A word of note: Diamond Dude WILL NOT activate spells in such a way that spell counters will be generated. The wording on "Destiny Hero - Diamond Dude" says that "you can activate its effect", which does not mean the same thing as regular "activate". In simple terms, the effect, NOT THE CARD (which is required for spell counter generation given the current cards) will be activated. (Then again, you don't pay costs or need to fulfill requirements on the cards that you can activate.)
  • Use practical normal spells with a cost/activation requirement that's possible to fulfill in your deck, like Lightning Vortex so that you do not get stuck if you draw them. For example, Destiny Draw allows a Draw Engine while The Beginning of the End gets to make you draw 3 cards with no furher costs. You can also use A Feather of the Phoenix or Pigeonholing Books of Spell to make getting this effect easier.
    • Summoner Monk can help you discard Normal Spells so that you may use Magical Stone Excavation via this monster's effect later to recover them.
  • Use this monster's effect to activate Trade-In, turning it into a costless Pot of Greed, thus granting an instant Draw Engine
    • Alternately, you may use Diamond Dude's effect to activate Spell Reproduction, allowing to recover a Spell from your grave with no cost.
  • Combine with "Plaguespreader Zombie" to place dead draw spells on top of your deck before you use it's effect
  • This card can be searched via Last Will.
