Rulings for Destiny Hero - Captain TenaciousYu-gi-oh! Card

This effect does not activate when your "Destiny Hero" monster is destroyed. This effect activates during your Standby Phase, so "Destiny Hero - Captain Tenacious" must be face-up on your side of the field at that time to Special Summon the "Destiny Hero" monster.

This effect is a Trigger Effect that can be chained to.

If "Skill Drain" is active during the Standby Phase when this effect resolves, this effect will be negated, even if "Skill Drain" was activated after your "Destiny Hero" monster was destroyed.

"Divine Wrath" can be chained to "Destiny Hero - Captain Tenacious's" effect when it activates during your Standby Phase.

Each "Destiny Hero - Captain Tenacious" can Special Summon 1 monster during your Standby Phase, so if you have 2 "Destiny Hero - Captain Tenacious" face-up on the field and 2 "Destiny Hero" monsters in your Graveyard that were destroyed as a result of battle since your last Standby Phase, you can activate and resolve their effects one at a time.

Play tips for this YuGiOh Card

  • This card can be searched via Sangan, Mystic Tomato, Reinforcement of the Army, Sphere of Chaos, Freed the Matchless General, Field-Commander Rahz, and Elemental HERO Stratos.
  • Even if you summon Tenacious after your D-Hero gets destroyed by battle, you can still activate his effect if he survives till next turn (Like if he was summoned By Destiny Signal when your opponent destroyed on of your Heroes)
  • Play this monster in attack mode, and then equip it with D - Shield when your opponent attacks. This way, you can bring back any and all D-HEROES that your opponent destroys (works quite well with Destiny HERO - Fear Monger).
  • Try having The Dark Door and two copies of this card on your field. That way, your opponent can only attack with one monster and will be unable to destroy this card, or another "Destiny HERO" monster, since the other Captain Tenacious will bring it back next turn.
  • If you control this card and a "Destiny HERO - Fear Monger", force your opponet to attack Fear Monger (Staunch Defender while they only control one monster is one way) or make this card indestructable ("D - Shield" is the most obvious) so that during your standby phase you will gain one monster from Fear Monger, and Fear Monger again from this card. While this combo may be hard to pull off, it merits an easy Dogma or Plasma.
  • This card can be searched via Last Will and Witch of the Black Forest.
  • Reviving Destiny HERO - Disk Commander with this card would be a great way to get more cards, but your opponent is not likely to give you that chance, so you'll likely have to suicide your "Disk Commander" into something yourself in order to do it.
