Play tips for this YuGiOh Card
- This card can negate the effects of 3 of the other Signer Dragons (Black Rose Dragon, Ancient Fairy Dragon and Red Dragon Archfiend).
- An exception to this is when your "Stardust Dragon" in Defense Position is attacked by "Red Dragon Archfiend", "Stardust Dragon" will not be able to activate its effect.
- A second "Stardust Dragon" can negate the effect of the first one if the first "Stardust Dragon"'s effect is activated in response to a card that is considered to be on the field, as "Stardust Dragon" destroys the card it negates.
- "Stardust Dragon" and any of its evolved forms (Majestic Star Dragon,Stardust Dragon/Assault Mode, Shooting Star Dragon) are all vulnerable to each other and can also negate the effect of their support card Starlight Road.
- You just need two cards in your hand to easily Summon this monster; Summoner Monk and a Spell card. Summon "Summoner Monk", use his effect to summon either Rose, Warrior of Revenge, Mist Valley Soldier, Flamvell Magician, Scrap Beast or Hyper Synchron from your deck and tune them both to "Stardust Dragon".
- If you decide to Special Summon "Hyper Synchron" with "Summoner Monk's" effect, "Hyper Synchron"'s effect will be triggered, giving "Stardust Dragon" an 800 ATK Boost and it will be banished during the End Phase.
- To summon this monster in one turn, use the effects of Cyber Dragon, Oracle of the Sun, Vice Dragon or The Tricky to Special Summon themselves, then Normal Summon a level 3 Tuner monster. Ideally these Tuner monsters have the ability to boost "Stardust Dragon", like Trust Guardian, Counselor Lily or Flare Resonator.
- Normal Summon Junk Synchron and special summon a level 2 monster. Synchro summon X-Saber Wayne and special summon a level 3 warrior type from your hand, e.g. Tune Warrior or Junk Synchron.
- Use Quickdraw Synchron with Level Eater to Synchro Summon Junk Warrior.
- If you use this method, you can Normal Summon Trust Guardian from your hand and tune it with Junk Warrior to Synchro Summon "Stardust Dragon". Thanks to the effect of Trust Guardian, "Stardust Dragon" will be extremely difficult to destroy.
- Use Destiny Draw or Foolish Burial to get Destiny Hero - Malicious into the Graveyard, then use his effect to Special Summon another copy of "Destiny Hero - Malicious".
- Alternatively, you can use Dark Grepher's effect to to send "Destiny Hero - Malicious" from your hand to the Graveyard, then send Plaguespreader Zombie from your deck to the graveyard or vice versa. You can then use their effects to Special Summon them to the field and Synchro Summon "Stardust Dragon".
- Use Instant Fusion to instantly Special Summon a level 5 Fusion Monster from your Extra Deck at a cost of 1000 LP.
- Normal Summon a Level 4 Plant monster, like Cactus Fighter. Then use Seed of Deception to Special Summon Copy Plant from your hand, use its effect to copy "Cactus Fighter"'s Level and then Synchro Summon "Stardust Dragon".
- In case this card is targeted by opponent's trap cards that return it to hand or deck or even banished, you can use Destruct Potion to chain those cards and then negate "Destruct Potion" using your "Stardust", enabling it to return to your field again.
- Alternatively, you can use Mystik Wok. It has nearly the same effect, but since it does not destroy your monster, you cannot chain "Stardust Dragon's" effect. After you tributed your "Stardust Dragon", bring it back with Call of the Haunted or Wicked Rebirth.
- Use monsters with effects like Codarus, Brionac, Dragon of the Ice Barrier or Abyss Soldier to return this card to your opponent's hand or send it to the graveyard without triggering its effect.
- Against "Stardust Dragon", use cards like Book of Moon to flip it face-down so you can play your destruction cards at will, Compulsory Evacuation Device and Phoenix Wing Wind Blast to return it to the extra deck and Karma Cut and Dimensional Prison to banish it.
- Usually the best way to beat "Stardust Dragon" is simply to attack it with a card with more attack. At 2500, it's rather vunerable to attacks but just be careful as your opponent will likely try to protect it.
- This card is a prime target for Mind Control or Enemy Controller. Before it returned to your opponent's side, summon a Level 2 Dragon-Type Tuner(for example, Dread Dragon) and tune them both to Synchro Summon Trident Dragion.
- You can use Dragon's Rage to almost ensure that you can deal damage each turn without hesitating to attack because of its revival effect.
- Running cards like Solemn Judgment, and Imperial Iron Wall will keep "Stardust Dragon" safe from cards that banish it or negate its effect.
- Necrovalley can protect "Stardust Dragon", since "Stardust" doesn't target cards it won't be affected by "Necrovalley's" effect; "Necrovalley" can protect "Stardust" in the Graveyard since cards in the Graveyard cannot be targeted or banished.
- This card works well with Wave-Motion Cannon, since it can prevent it from being destroyed, thus giving you a better chance of it surviving 8 turns.
- For a Limited-Type Deck (namely a dragon deck) Prime Material Dragon and Magna Drago are good cards to Synchro Summon "Stardust Dragon" (and also "Red Dragon Archfiend"). Make sure that you Summon "Prime Material Dragon" first while having some cards on hand to protect your monsters for a guaranteed Synchro Summon.
- You can also use Dread Dragon as Magna Drago's replacement if you want better Deck-searching options.
- Use Divine Wrath to prevent it from negating a card, as well as hindering its return.
- Equip this card with Malevolent Nuzzler that way it will have 3200 ATK, making it less vulnerable to your opponents high ATK monsters, and if you use its effect, "Malevolent Nuzzler" can return to the top of your deck at the Cost of 500 Life Points so you can equip it to "Stardust Dragon" again.
- You can also use Horn of the Unicorn, in which you do not need to pay Life Points to return it to the top of the deck when "Stardust Dragon" used its effect. Be careful though, as you cannot choose to put "Horn of the Unicorn" on top of the deck.
- Use with Silver Wing for a almost invincible "Stardust Dragon"
- Remember that if you tribute "Stardust Dragon" for its effect, "Silver Wing" will be destroyed.
- To create a kind of lock for your opponent, put this card in a deck with the Reactors, particularly if you use Flying Fortress SKY FIRE. "Flying Fortress SKY FIRE" can destroy either a Normal or Special Summoned monster or a Set card once per turn during your opponent's turn, and can destroy a card when you discard a card from your hand. That means your opponent can only play Spell Cards directly from their hand if they want to avoid damage, and if it would destroy a card or cards, you can negate and destroy it with "Stardust Dragon", and will be Special Summoned at the End Phase.
- If you manage to get any of the other "Reactors" back onto the field, you can further help support "Flying Fortress SKY FIRE" by negating and destroying an additional Spell or Trap Card if your opponent tries to activate one, and inflicting damage if they Summon a monster, effectively locking them down if they want to avoid the 800 pints of direct damage with their effects. As well, you can add "Stardust Dragon/Assault Mode" into your deck to allow a little more leeway for using something to counter Spell Cards from the hand.
- You can also use Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon's effect to revive "Stardust" in case it was destroyed by battle.
- Or, if you already use Black Rose Dragon's effect to clear the field while you have Totem Dragon in your previous turn, you can Synchro Summon Stardust Dragon easily. First, Special Summon Totem Dragon via its effect during your Standby Phase. Second, banish it to Special Summon Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon and Special Summon Black Rose Dragon from your Graveyard. Third, Normal Summon Flamvell Guard and tune Black Rose Dragon and Flamvell Guard together to form Stardust Dragon(this only work if your monster(s) in your Graveyard are all Dragon-Type monsters, though).
- You can also get Blue-Eyes White Dragon in your hand if you use The White Stone of Legend instead of Flamvell Guard.
- Use in conjunction with the Horus Lockdown to protect Horus LV8 and Royal Decree/Jinzo from being destroyed by effects.
- Be careful while activating Stardust Dragon's effect while during your opponent's Main Phase 1 as since it is sent to the Graveyard they can "steal" it by playing Monster Reborn.
- Another 2 card combo for summoning your Stardust Dragon are Trident Warrior and Delta Flyer. Normal Summon Trident Warrior to Special Summon the level 3 Delta Flyer. Then, use "Delta Flyer" effect to raise "Trident Warrior's" Level by 1. An effective 1st turn if your lucky.
- Instead of "Trident Warrior", Goblindbergh is another option. Just use its effect to Special Summon a Level 4 Tuner, or "Delta Flyer" again.
- This card works well with Tytannial, Princess of Camellias in protecting your monsters from your opponent's spells, traps and monster effects. This is because many threatening cards that are capable of stopping Stardust Dragon (basically the ones that do not destroy) tend to target monsters (like Shrink, Dimensional Prison, Mind Control and Chaos Sorcerer) which "Tytannial" will protect you from. This allows you protection from many of the most common spells and traps. With an additional Gigaplant to keep reloading tributes, it will be very difficult for your opponent to make a comeback.
- Use this card with "Thought Ruler archfiend" for a strong combo, since "Stardust Dragon" negates the effect of a card that destroys another, while "Thought Ruler Archfiend" (being a Psycic type monster) can negate a Spell/Trap card that targets it, and destroy it by paying 1000 Life Points. Your Opponent however can still summon out a stronger monster, so Lay a counter Trap to protect the two.
- Use Card of Safe Return with this card, so every time it revives itself after preventing destruction, you get to draw an extra card.
- "Stardust Dragon" cannot negate the effects of Brain Control and Change of Heart, so a good counter is to use these and simply Tribute it to Summon one of your own monsters, or to activate the effect of a card.
